Dotworkz recently assisted with the most popular hosted live network camera currently on the Internet. The goal of this project was to capture striking HD video images of the Alaskan brown bears as they compete for salmon in Katmai National Park’s Brook Falls, an area that is nearly inaccessible without incredible effort and cost. IP video Specialists funded by explore.org utilized innovative technology from Dotworkz, a custom designed Solar Eclipse 2500, to bring these majestic animals in their natural habitat to viewers around the world.
Due to the remoteness of the area, the brown bear cams are powered entirely using solar energy, with back up wind generator turbines to keep the system operational in the Spring when sun angles are low. The relayed Sony EP 550 IP pan tilt and zooming cameras are protected using Dotworkz D2-HB-SOLAR all weather camera housings, shielding the sensitive electronic components from the harsh Alaska wilderness and allowing them to stream crystal-clear high definition footage of this nearly untouched and untamed environment.
